Chestnut Street Arts Council
To reflect their passion and value for the arts, Chestnut Street Primary have elected an 'Arts Council' with a representative voted in from each class. The Arts Council meets bi-weekly with Ms Dale (expressive arts co ordinator) to discuss ideas and plan and promote projects. Each council rep is responsible for communicating ideas from their class and mediating questions. They keep an eye out for exciting arts based activities going on in class and take photos to add to our 'Fly on the Wall' display'. They also maintain their own notice board situated in our expressive arts studio.
The Arts Council are keen to get more artists, musicians and dancers in school. They are cooking up ideas for a carnival week at the end of February and a visual arts project in the summer terms! To help bring inspired arty ideas into reality, The Ruskington Chestnut Street school friends committee have offered some financial support to whole school project ideas.
On Thursday 17th November, the KS1 council reps will be welcoming indian dance worker Vina Ladwar who is coming from Manushi dance in Nottingham to help KS1 to understand better and celebrate the Hindu festival Diwali.
