New Players Welcome at Occasional Orchestras
Amateur orchestral musicians – even those who admit to being a bit rusty – are invited to join two ‘occasional orchestras’ which have been formed in Lincolnshire.
Rehearsals are running on selected Saturday mornings this term in Grantham and Nettleham, just outside Lincoln. Players interested in joining either group are invited to get in touch with soundLINCS – Lincolnshire Music Development Agency - for details.
Leading the sessions is conductor Mary Michell from soundLINCS. ‘Newcomers are welcome across woodwind, brass, strings and percussion,’ says Mary. ‘We just ask everyone to be comfortable working from notation and able to share an enthusiasm for music-making with others.’
The rehearsals are running in Grantham’s Guildhall Arts Centre on 4 February, 3 March, 31 March, 12 May and 9 June and in the C of E Aided Junior School in Nettleham on 21 January, 18 February, 17 March, 21 April, 19 May and 16 June. All run from 9.30am to 12.30pm and the attendance fee is £7 per session.
